The Content Manager plays a key role in advancing Visit Denver’s marketing and communications efforts through strategic content planning, implementation and monitoring. Reporting to the Director of Web and Content, this position manages distribution of content across digital and print platforms, with a focus on managing the creation of certain content, as well as the discoverability and performance of content across Visit Denver’s family of websites.
This role is central to Visit Denver’s efforts to evolve alongside a changing digital landscape, particularly in adapting to AI-powered search, the popularity of video and emerging content opportunities. Working cross-functionally with teams such as email, social media and public relations, the Content Manager helps ensure content is timely, relevant, visible and aligned with brand, campaign and organizational goals. The ultimate objective is to attract visitors, enhance the experience of travelers and meeting attendees, and elevate the Mile High City brand.

Description of responsibilities:
- Support Visit Denver’s vision, mission, and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence and competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, personalization, commitment to community, accountability, and ownership.
- Support Visit Denver’s efforts related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
- Develop, manage and execute content strategies across Visit Denver’s family of websites, third-party digital platforms and traditional print collateral including the Official Visitor’s Guide, Meeting Planners Guide, brochures and additional print publications.
- Maintain and oversee the editorial calendar to ensure content is strategically planned, timely, aligned with marketing initiatives and coordinated across platforms.
- Write, edit, optimize and maintain engaging and authoritative website content, ensuring alignment with Visit Denver’s brand voice, AP Style, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), best practices and integrated marketing objectives.
- Manage external content creators, provide directions on assignments, reviewing content and ensuring consistent quality, accuracy and timely delivery.
- Utilize and interpret data from a variety of analytics platforms to evaluate and improve selection of content topics and content performance, including SEO ranking, GEO visibility, user engagement, citations and conversions.
- Monitor and maintain existing content to ensure continued accuracy, freshness and alignment with evolving search behavior and audience expectations.
- Manage content distribution across digital channels, ensuring accuracy, consistency and visibility across both traditional and AI-powered search environments.
- Regularly audit and update third-party website content to ensure accuracy, relevance and alignment with Visit Denver’s marketing priorities.
- Collaborate with the email marketing team to inform strategy and supply content for newsletters, promotional campaigns and automated emails.
- Stay informed on evolving SEO and GEO trends, AI search developments and industry best practices to keep Visit Denver’s content strategies up to date.
- Work collaboratively with social media and public relations teams to identify new opportunities for increasing brand visibility, including presence on emerging community platforms.
- Support strategic marketing discussions by providing insights, content performance updates and recommendations to improve effectiveness.

Required experience:
- Proven experience in writing, editing and optimizing engaging content for both digital and print channels, including demonstrated skill in managing web content.
- Strong understanding of SEO principles, GEO and AI-driven search methodologies, including experience optimizing content for platforms like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and similar AI-powered tools.
- Proficiency in content analytics and reporting tools such as Google Analytics 4, and an ability to use data to guide content improvements.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with experience juggling multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
- Exceptional editing skills, with attention to detail and the ability to ensure all content aligns with established brand standards, follows AP Style, promotes inclusive language and reflects accessibility best practices.
- Ability to effectively guide internal teams and freelance contributors, including clear communication, project oversight and feedback delivery.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and AI tools such as ChatGPT; ability to use these tools productively in daily workflow and content development.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), digital publishing tools and collaborative platforms.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with marketing, PR and social media teams.
- Forward-thinking mindset with a proactive approach to evolving technology, industry trends and digital content best practices.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal and professional communication skills and the ability to build relationships and represent Visit Denver across a range of stakeholders.
Required skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in content strategy, editorial management or digital publishing, with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Proven background in content development across both digital and print channels, ideally with experience in tourism, hospitality, media or a related sector.
- Experience guiding creative contributors and maintaining quality and consistency across multi-platform campaigns.
- Familiarity with content performance measurement and AI content tools preferred, including emerging trends in GEO and AI-driven search.

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, such as sitting or standing, for an extended period.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
