The Human Resources Manager is a key leader responsible for managing the organization's HR strategy and ensuring it aligns with business objectives. This role oversees all aspects of talent acquisition, employee development, compensation, benefits, compliance, organizational policies and company culture. The HR manager plays a critical role in shaping policies, fostering a positive work environment, and driving initiatives that enhance employee engagement and productivity.


The HR Manager will collaborate closely with senior leadership to ensure that HR initiatives align with business goals and contribute to a positive employee experience. The ideal candidate will be a strong generalist leading all aspects of an “HR Department of One” and dedicated to creating a workplace culture that attracts, retains, and nurtures top talent. 


Key responsibilities include:


HR Strategy

  • Collaborate with leadership team to develop the organizational structure and HR programs to support the company’s growth objectives
  • Promote, deploy and leverage HR systems (including current Paylocity system and Epicor ERP) to promote efficiency across HR programs, employee records and compliance requirements and reporting

Talent Acquisition

  • Lead talent acquisition efforts, ensuring the company attracts and retains top talent 
  • Oversee the entire employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and offboarding
  • Reduce employee turnover to under 20% on an annualized basis

Compliance

  • Ensure HR policies and procedures comply with local, state, and federal labor laws
  • Oversee payroll processing and HRIS systems to improve efficiency and accuracy

Employee Relations and Development

  • Handle employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions while fostering a positive work environment
  • Partner and collaborate with union representatives to manage union labor terms and conditions
  • Oversee labor relations policies and maintain positive relationship with the union and employees at union location 
  • Design and implement employee training and development programs to enhance skills and performance
  • Establish and maintain a positive workplace culture that promotes engagement, collaboration, and productivity
  • Promote safety as a core value and develop polices that foster that belief and a communication strategy that reinforces it

Compensation / Benefits

  • Manage compensation, benefits, and performance evaluation systems to ensure competitive and fair pay 
  • Develop salary bands by position with compensation ranges that are market based and positioned within the market to attract the desired talent 
  • Manage relationships and agreements with benefits partners including medical programs, workers compensation, 401K and pension programs



Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field, HR Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in human resources in a manufacturing environment with experience in a union environment preferred but not required
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.  Ability to communication effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively

Work Environment

Air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned environments; hazardous materials such as solvents and petroleum-based products; machinery, heavy tools, raw material, material handling equipment, and warehouse racking.
