Responsibilities
- Processes surgical instrumentation by decontamination (cleaning) utilizing various mechanical or manual methods.
- Prepares trays and packs by organizing in a prescribed manner while carefully checking for broken or missing items.
- Performs sterilization procedures utilizing several of acceptable methodologies.
- Reports defective or missing items to the team leader or manager.
- Maintains storage and adequate supplies of sterilized instrumentation.
- Provides department support to staff by assisting them in locating an item.
- Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required Experience• Must have at least 1+ years experience working in a hospital, preferably working with medical/surgical supplies required • Current enrollment or completion of a Sterile Processing/Central Service Technician program required• Microbiology and/or knowledge of steam and Ethylene Oxide sterilization preferred Licenses and Certifications• CRCST - Certified Registered Central Services Technician Certification from IAHCSMM preferred• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) preferredDisclaimers
