Position: | Interim Supervisor of Student Support and Mental Health Services |

Job Goal: | To coordinate with community-based partners providing clinical mental health services to implement district-wide, culturally inclusive mental health programs and parent engagement resources to facilitate the home-school connection ultimately improving care, strengthening outcomes, and maintaining mental health services for our entire school community. |

Qualifications: | - 1. A master's degree in the field of mental health, social work, counseling, psychology, or related areas.
- New Jersey School Certificate: Principal and/or Supervisor.
- Social Worker, School Pscyhologist Certification, and/or NJ DOE Education Services Certificate.
- Minimum of three years' experience working in a school/clinic/hospitalization/social services setting consulting with parents and staff on the delivery of specialized therapeutic/mental health interventions.
- Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Responsibilities: | - Primary
- Performs a wide range of supervisory and administrative duties, including administration of contracted mental health programs and services, coordination of programs and evaluation of services and programs, and supervision of the efficacy of the mental health services to ensure alignment with the district’s goals and maximize contractually determined services.
- Facilitates connections to community mental health resources by collaborating with others (e.g. superintendent, teachers, building principals, other professional staff, parent groups, community partners, outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maximizing mental health services services with community-based providers.
- Consults with district staff and the larger school community for the purpose of maintaining existing programs and implementing new mental health services in accordance with students' needs, professional standards, and related requirements.
- Collaborates with School Counseling and Special Services Departments to develop short and long range plans in relation to mental health services, and develops proposals, new programs, and other opportunities for the purpose of ensuring meeting district goals in the area of mental health.
- Directs the implementation of existing and new mental health programs/services for the purpose of ensuring new programs/services are provided.
- Facilitates meetings that may frequently involve a range of issues for the purpose of evaluating services, identifying appropriate actions, developing recommendations and/or implementing desired program changes.
- Monitors mental health program/services for the purpose of ensuring stated outcomes are achieved, relevant policies and procedures are addressed, and services are efficiently provided within budgetary guidelines.
- Serves as a mental health resource to district personnel and as a liaison to various agencies for the purpose of explaining procedures conveying and/or receiving information as needed for the planning, developing and evaluating mental health services.
- Oversees performance and effectiveness of Child Study Team (CST) members to ensure that teams function well and students and families are served.
- Assists mental health professionals and other SPS staff in resolving issues quickly and effectively as they arise.
- Responds to all questions from Team members and school administrators regarding mental health related service process and policy requirements.
- Collaborate with school nurses in the implementation of site-based whole child services.
- Provides assistance and input to the Director of Student Personnel Services for administering and planning the budget for Child Study Team and Mental Health Services.
- Advises Director of Student Personnel Services on any special situations or problems and keeps Director informed on all student mental health and support services matters.
- Participates in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of Child Study Team and mental health and student support services staff.
- Develops in-service training programs for the mental health and student support services staff.
- Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with literature, research, and improved techniques, and for attending appropriate professional meetings, county and state roundtables, and conferences.
- Collaborates with the Director of Student Personnel Services, Supervisor of Special Services, and the Supervisor of School Counseling on developing and overseeing the implementation of an integrated SPS program that reflects the support needs of the students.
