About the Department
Incumbents in this position are responsible for handling the disconnection of nonpayment for water utilities by requesting the disconnection of those utilities, and meters to be removed from properties that result in many disconnections per week. This position is assigned to pay grade G13.
Position Duties
- Maintains the billing of CFPUA non-utility related charges.
- Initiates, bills, monitors, and finalizes loans including registering of the lien with the Register of Deeds and filing the Notice of Satisfaction upon payoff of the lien.
- Researches and resolves transaction or billing exceptions reports daily.
- Responsible for coordination of demolition process, including but not limited to the collection of fees, processing of the application and creation of all applicable work orders.
- Reviews data, analyzes information, diagnoses the solution, and performs all system corrections.
- Enters requests for information forms that are signed off by the Engineering department.
- Submits and reviews various listings and posting of adjustments, deposit transfer refunds, credit balance refunds, or transfer balances.
- Performs billing procedures for finalized accounts which includes analyzing and reviewing consumption data posting readings, creating, and reviewing charges, and keying in corrections as needed.
- Creates delinquency reports for the manager.
- Participates in notifying customers when high usage is reported through the advanced meter reading system.
- Sets up new customer locations in correct route and cycle for billing; prepares special billings when appropriate which includes cancel/rebills, meter read estimations, and off-cycle billing.
- Processes the courtesy call list and redirects calls to the Collections department.
- Monitors daily reports and performs quality control processes in order to ensure accurate processing of information and adherence to defined audit controls.
- Research credit refunds.
- Research and resolves identified discrepancies.
- Validates, and maintains customer information and billing determinants as required.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six (6) month of work experience in an accounting specialist, billing clerk role with knowledge of financial principles.
