Who we need
We are looking for a Bilingual Senior Underwriter who brings expertise, sound judgment, and integrity to every decision. You will be accountable for evaluating insurability for clients applying for loan insurance (life, disability, and critical illness) and individual insurance (T-10 & T-20). Your strong ability to interpret diverse information, combined with your experience and knowledge of underwriting and the medical field, will directly impact client satisfaction, team success, and organizational profitability.
What you will do
- Provide technical expertise in assessing morbidity risks in line with established standards and processes;
- Manage complex cases, including post-issue underwriting and customer appeals;
- Draft personalized correspondence and, occasionally, communicate directly with clients;
- Achieve and maintain productivity and quality goals;
- Support and mentor less experienced colleagues through coaching and knowledge transfer;
- Contribute actively to continuous improvement projects and team objectives;
- Participate in team meetings and inspire trust through integrity and professionalism.
What you will bring
- 4 to 7 years of experience underwriting life, disability, and critical illness insurance risk;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French;
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail;
- A positive attitude and commitment to delivering quality service;
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, with effective time management and prioritization skills;
- A collaborative mindset and proven ability to work as part of a team;
- Comfort with ambiguity and demonstrated success in turning incomplete information into sound underwriting decisions;
- Adaptability in a dynamic, evolving environment;
- FLMI or FALU designation (completed or in progress) considered an asset.
