Job Description:

Compass Government Solutions is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician (Donor) to work with the Blood Donor Center at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. This position assists patients between the Blood Donor Center, Blood Drive events two to four days a week, and within the Main Laboratory on days they are not needed in the Blood Donor Center.

Schedule:

Blood Donor Center - Monday - Friday. 7AM - 6PM 

Blood Drive: Two to Four days a week. Varying Schedule. 9 Hour shifts scheduled between 3AM - 11:59PM . Periodic travel is required for some Blood Drive locations, which may include multiple days at Blood Drive location.

Main Laboratory: Monday - Friday. 7AM - 6PM

Core Duties
• Comply with all Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Blood Services Directives, Blood Services Letters, Local Operating Procedures, and Exposure Control Plan policies and procedures as well as all Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB) and American Red Cross philosophies, structures, policies, and procedures.
• Perform some phases of whole blood collection and donor care according to directives, the Code of Federal Regulations and local policies and procedures to ensure safe product and optimum donor experience.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience within the previous 24 months.
  • Completed a phlebotomy course or equivalent on-the-job-training (OJT).
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Licensure: Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT. Obtain and maintain a valid Mississippi State Class D – Light commercial License, within 3 months of employment.

 

  • Board Certification: N/A


Certified phlebotomy technicians with less than one year of laboratory experience would be considered if prior military service, National Guard, Reserve or internship at this facility and experience less than 1 year as a phlebotomist.
