As a Corn Supply Manager - Thurston Genetics, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the parent seed and hybrid seed supply chain. This includes monitoring seed quality assurance, overseeing production plans, processing, and inventory, as well as coordinating forecasted seed estimates with sales managers.

- Managing the overall production plan based on forecasting for a 0-18 month time horizon, considering seed forecast, seed carryover, seed availability, seed quality, and management policies and goals.
- Serving as the primary interface with suppliers, growers, and warehouse sites to ensure effective communication with all parties to meet timely supply deadlines.
- Acting as the primary supply chain interface for both parent seed and hybrid seed demands.
- Leading interactions between sales and supply forecasting meetings.
- Coordinating supply chain activities related to the planning, purchasing, growing, tracking, shipping, receipt, and financial reconciliation of inbound/outbound seed.
- Linking product management, quality control, and supply chain procurement for all hybrid and inbred seed supply.
- Traveling seasonally as required.
- Tracking and documenting warehouse SOPs related to proper seed processing, sampling, shipping, inventory audits, and climate control.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives, identifying key cost leverages, and assigning resources to minimize costs.
- Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and Freedom to Operate requirements.
If you...
- Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- Bring at least 10 years of experience and proficiency in managing various aspects of Hybrid and Inbred Corn Seed Production, Quality Assurance, Inventory, Logistics, and Warehouse Management.
- Require a thorough understanding of hybrid seed corn and corn inbred production, with a preference for Northern and Southern hemisphere production knowledge.
- Possess expertise in industry-standard protocols for hybrid and inbred corn seed quality assurance concerning germination, genetic purity, and trait purity.
- Demonstrate data analysis skills by extracting useful data from known sources to identify and deliver recommendations with exceptional attention to detail.
- Assist in developing decision criteria based on factors affecting customers, employees, and the organization, taking or initiating action to address issues or prevent problems.
- Maintain basic knowledge of product portfolios, niche markets, and general marketing/agronomic segments.
- Understand the trade-off implications of demand plan decisions (e.g., short/long products) and possess knowledge of demand prioritization rules.
