Regular, full-time position located at the McAlester Clinic | Schedule is M-F 8-4:30 with a rare evening or weekend, depending on Community Health events

Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Community Health Nurse protects and preserves the health of community members by encouraging healthy living, recognizing the needs of the community, and advocating for improved overall community health. You will report to the Director.

Primary Tasks:

1.       Plan and organize Mobile Health Unit events for assigned areas including on weekends and holidays.

2.       Evaluate immunization rates and develop innovating approaches to gain cooperation and understanding surrounding immunizations.

3.       Stay up to date on and educate staff on vaccination changes.

4.       Conduct immunization services within clinics, schools, and community settings.

5.       Facilitate preventative health care screenings and provide health promotion and disease prevention educational materials.

6.       Implement fluoride varnish application in clinic and community settings; provide oral health education.

7.       Consult parents and guardians of newborns; provide education on maternal and newborn needs.

8.       Oversee all Community Health vaccine management; ensure vaccines are stored, handled, transported, and inventoried correctly following CDC, VFC, and CNHSA policies.

9.       Prepare and implement the provision of care according to program policies, standing orders, and regulations.

10.   Collaborate and foster established partnerships with Tribal Health representatives, the Oklahoma State Department of Health, and the Oklahoma Caring Van Program.

11.   Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

·       Associate degree in nursing

·       Current RN licensure with the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing

·       CPR Certified
