GENERAL STATEMENT OF POSITION
Under general supervision, the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, directing, organizing, and evaluating nursing services to meet the total needs of the residents; ensures an efficient health facility operation in cooperation with other departments and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Provides care in accordance with our “Philosophy for Person-Directed Care.”.The ADON and DON have many similar possible required duties. The DON will determine the distribution of duties. Duties may change depending on the needs of the department.
POSITION CLASSIFICATION
Full Time, Exempt/Salaried
Schedule: Monday-Friday (Day Shift ), rotating night and weekend on call.
Pay Range: $90,000 - $130,000 salaried, depending on experience
Work Duties
- Makes daily rounds to observe residents and ensure that staffing levels meet residents' needs; ensures all appropriate and necessary nursing care is provided;
- Interacts with residents and families/responsible parties and staff; answers questions, gives directions and support;
- Directs admissions and discharges; coordinates with acute hospital, assisted living and independent living staff;
- Conducts staff meetings;
- Performs administrative planning;
- Supervises nursing and management staff including scheduling, hiring, training, and evaluating; acts on employee problems; recommends transfers, salary increases and discipline;
- Interviews potential resident applicants; gives tours and meets with prospective residents;
- May code bills, invoices, etc.
- May monitor and maintain employee safety in-service records, as required;
- Maintains and/or establishes necessary policy and procedures;
- Participates in off-site professional meetings;
- Inventories and orders, or oversees the ordering of, supplies;
- Participates in the budget process and manages within the budget;
- Processes Medicare and insurance forms; directs Medicare A approval and denials; sends out denials letters; keeps families/responsible parties informed of status; prepares nursing portion of billings;
- Attends interdisciplinary team meetings;
- Attends resident review meeting;
- Attends in-service training workshops and meetings as required;
- Conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with the facility safety program;
- Provides effective and courteous service to all residents/families, guests and co-workers;
- Promotes and protects the rights of each resident;
- Performs other related essential duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- Completion of Accredited Licensed Nursing Program (RN)
- BS Degree, preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and related professional experience
Experience/Training
- Minimum of 1 year professional managerial experience in related field
- Clinical observation and assessment skills
- Proficient computer skills necessary to complete documentation, review electronic health records and communicate with team members
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Current RN license
- Current CPR certification
