The Food Bank of the Rockies Driver will be involved with many assignments such as over-the-road (OTR) routes, Grocery Rescue, Mobile Pantry routes, and other logistics-related tasks. While driving is a key component of the role, it represents approximately 50% of the overall responsibilities. The majority of the work involves loading and unloading food, coordinating mobile pantry distributions, assisting in warehouse operations, and engaging with volunteers, partner agencies, donors, and the general public. This position plays a vital role in supporting an efficient food distribution network to ensure equitable access to nutritious food across the Western Slope region.

The mission of Food Bank of the Rockies is to ignite the power of community to nourish people facing hunger. We provide food and necessities to people in need through signature programs and by teaming up with hundreds of Hunger Relief Partners to serve communities across Colorado and Wyoming. Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining food industry standards for safety, proper product handling, storage, and warehouse sanitation
- Provide extraordinary customer service to partners, volunteers, and neighbors, with safety as a top priority
- Drive all company vehicles ranging from 26’ box trucks to CDL required tandem axle tractor-53’ Trailer combinations
- Drives OTR, local, and mobile pantry routes across Western Colorado, with up to 7 stops: driving accounts for ~50% of the role
- Load the truck with outbound food products according to manifest delivery specifications and within Food Bank of the Rockies policies
- Unload food, verify product temperatures and collect required signed paperwork
- Pick up donations at various food rescue donor locations
- Maintain driver log on ELD system, complete vehicle inspection, and follow maintenance schedules per DOT regulation
- Keep cab, cargo area, and food-handling equipment clean and sanitized
- Maintain receipts, invoices, and other required paperwork for each site
- Support inventory management by assisting with record-keeping, surplus tracking, waste documentation, and physical inventory counts
Mobile Pantries:
- Lead mobile pantry site operations and food distribution in accordance with Food Bank of the Rockies and Feeding America standards
- Collaborate with site coordinators and volunteers to set up distribution, unload products, and break down cases
- Manage cleanup efforts including pallet breakdown, waste disposal, and collection of recyclable materials
Fresh Food Center
- Assist in stocking and maintaining orderly Fresh Food Center to reduce waste and ensure efficient storage and distribution
- Assist partners with shopping, weighing products, and loading vehicles.
- Perform general warehouse duties including order pulling, sanitation, equipment upkeep, and grounds maintenance
- Assist other Programs Department tasks, including but not limited to The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) & Commodity Supplement Food Program (CSFP) deliveries

- Uses heavy equipment daily including forklift, stand up/sit down lift truck, step up pallet jack, and automatic pallet jack
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and excellent driving record
- Minimum 2 years prior experience as Commercial Driver preferred
- Prior experience working in a warehouse environment is strongly preferred
- Minimum age requirement: 21 years old
- Forklift experience and certification a plus
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
Expected Hours of Work:
This role is considered full-time, non-exempt, working approximately 40 hours per week. Work schedules vary each week and consist of weekdays, evenings, and occasional Saturdays. Typical schedule is Monday – Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm and one Saturday per month.
