Job Description

BAE Systems Platforms and Services is currently hiring a Senior Accountant to support the Weapon Systems Business Unit in Minneapolis, MN.  The Senior Accountant will learn and utilize professional accounting concepts in the performance of accounting duties in accordance with well-established policies and procedures. Records, classifies, examines, and analyzes data and records of accounting transactions to ensure accurate and complete financial information.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares weekly and monthly invoicing as assigned.
  • Prepares cancelling funds invoices annually.
  • Prepares month-end journal entries as assigned.
  • Supports the contract closeout process.
  • Handles a variety of accounting assignments including the preparation, analysis, review, verification, and reconciliation of various records, financial reports, and statements.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate, detailed financial records. 
  • Acquires and maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.
  • Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and 4 years of related experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Accounting: General Accounting, Cost Accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting, Payroll Accounting, Accounts Receivables, or Accounts Payables.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to use computers to prepare appropriate reports and documents.
  • Ability to develop/demonstrate research and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external customers.
