Work Schedule

15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Must be able to work a minimum of a two-hour block of time each day scheduled.

Required Qualifications

  1. Currently enrolled in the KU Business School.
  2. Prior knowledge of business office operations as evidenced in application materials.
  3. Ability to work remotely (in state of Kansas only), as expressed and evidenced by application materials.

  1. Familiarity with Outlook and MS Office suite software (Excel, Word, & Visio, specifically) as evidenced in application materials.
  2. Ability to follow directions and complete tasks independently and on schedule as demonstrated by application materials.
  3. Strongly effective attention to detail, as evidenced by application materials.

Position Overview

The Financial System Student Intern position provides an opportunity for students enrolled in the accounting, finance, or management information systems majors to apply classroom learning in a professional environment relevant to their major.

Student will work 12-15 hours per week during the school year and 20+ hours weekly during the summer.

Position Requirements

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions

(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
