The Enoch Pratt Library has an opening for a mid-level Desktop Engineer to support infrastructure, procurement, and project management initiatives across all Enoch Pratt Library locations. This role focuses on procuring desktop and printer equipment, Azure & Google platform management, device deployment, security configurations, vendor coordination, and onsite support.

This position will require local travel between library branches, and works during normal business hours Monday through Friday.

Summary of Duties:

  • Handle procurement, inventory, and distribution of IT hardware and software and ensure compliance with Baltimore City policies when managing and decommissioning IT equipment.
  • Manage and support PCs, laptops, surfaces, AV equipment, and cloud-based environments.
  • Deploy and manage desktop applications and user access across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Linux devices.
  • Configure and secure devices using Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, and Intune.
  • Manage Microsoft servers, file-sharing systems, antivirus, and software deployment tools.
  • Work with vendors on installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage projects involving renovations, upgrades, and equipment rollouts.
  • Provide end-user support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and AV equipment.
  • Maintain RFID systems, SAM servers, and related scheduling/config tools.
  • Support Google Workspace administration for Chrome OS device management.
  • Create and use custom scripts and tools for automation and remote support.
  • Serve as a team lead on projects, ensuring tasks are completed on time and guiding or training other team members as needed.
  • Coordinate and distribute desktop and IT equipment, including delivery and installation, at library branch locations.
  • Manage and approve desktop images.
  • Develop and manage cloud-based policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in an IT related field, or 2 years of IT experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 years of Windows desktop support and troubleshooting experience.
  • 3 years of customer service experience.
  • Azure Fundamentals Certification (AZ-900 or equivalent), CompTIA A+ and Network+ certification.
  • Experience with Active Directory or Microsoft InTune or Google admin or Office 365.
  • Valid driver's license with no more than 3 points on your license.
  • Physical Requirements: Physical exertion such as standing; or recurring activities such as bending, crouching, reaching; pushing loaded equipment carts; or recurring lifting of heavy items such as desktop computers, monitors, printers, kiosks, and server equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field.
  • Experience with Lansweeper, Deep Freeze, Apple Business manager, and SAM.
  • Experience with security best practices for devices and systems.
  • Experience with vendor management and/or project coordination.
