Are you ready to drive growth in the global freight markets and create real impact in shaping the future of dry bulk trading? At RWE Supply & Trading (RWEST), we’re looking for an entrepreneurial Panamax Freight Trader to lead the way in navigating key opportunities within agricultural freight markets.

This is a rare chance to join a desk at the forefront of innovation, leveraging your expertise to build a profitable book and make your mark in an expanding and globally integrated trading team.

About the role

  • Shape market strategies: Take ownership of building and advancing the Panamax trading book with a strategic focus on agricultural freight products.
  • Create value through insight: Develop market-leading analysis to identify and act on the most lucrative opportunities while managing risk effectively.
  • Collaborate for commercial success: Work seamlessly with internal desks—coal, biomass, and grains—to leverage synergies, overcome challenges, and maximise profitability.
  • Negotiate with impact: Secure advantageous freight contracts by aligning market insights with client needs, solidifying RWEST’s position as a trusted partner in dry bulk freight.
  • Innovate for the future: Use your industry knowledge and collaboration skills to help shape the future direction of RWEST’s freight strategy during this pivotal growth phase.

Why this is a career move

This isn’t just another trading role. It’s an opportunity to:

  • Define your impact: Join during an exciting period of expansion, giving you the freedom to influence the direction of a growing freight desk with the backing of a strong global business.
  • Unlock potential: Leverage RWEST’s broad trading capabilities and expert teams to implement your vision in a highly connected and resource-rich environment.
  • Grow without limits: Gain unparalleled access to professional development in one of Europe’s most dynamic trading hubs, pushing the boundaries of your expertise and career.

Job requirements and experience

  • Deliver trading success: Proven experience in Panamax trading with a strong focus on agricultural freight or related sectors.
  • Manage trading risks: Demonstrated ability to balance risk effectively while capturing growth opportunities.
  • Lead with insight: A deep understanding of market dynamics, (e.g., grain product demand, spot and forward markets, swaps, and arbitrage).
  • Utilise your network: Established client relationships in the freight markets, particularly with grain clients, to drive commercial deals.
  • Collaborate strategically: A proactive team player with sharp decision-making skills and the ability to use collaboration as a competitive advantage.

Advantageous, but not essential

  • Knowledge of Endur and IMOS systems for managing trading and risk reporting.
  • Quantitative modelling skills to enhance market analysis and forecasting.

What we value most is passion, willingness to learn and a determined and resilient work ethic. So, even if you think you do not yet display all of the skills above we would still like to hear from you.

Further, we welcome applications from individuals who may not be able to commit to full-time roles. At RWEST, finding the right person for the job is our top priority, and we are willing to explore flexible arrangements.
