Purpose of the Role:

The People and Culture Specialist plays a key role in supporting the employee lifecycle and advancing People and Culture initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Business Partner, People and Culture, this role ensures the smooth execution of core people processes, such as employee changes, offboarding, and leave administration, while ensuring compliance and accuracy across documentation and systems. 

Beyond operational excellence, the Specialist supports workforce planning, performance management, and merit cycles, collaborating across People & Culture functions to strengthen programs that drive performance, engagement and retention. By identifying trends, recommending improvements, and contributing to strategic initiatives, this role helps advance People & Culture practices in alignment with organizational goals. 

This position offers valuable mentorship and exposure to strategic HR work, providing an opportunity to build expertise and contribute to people initiatives and practices that shape the organization’s culture and success. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage employee change documentation, including letters related to promotions, transfers, and other employment changes. 
  • Oversee the voluntary departure process, including conducting exit interviews, coordinating offboarding activities, and identifying trends to inform retention strategies. 
  • Administer and monitor employee leaves, including Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and Parental Leave, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with applicable policies. 
  • Monitor immigration and work permit processes for existing employees, ensuring timely and compliant handling of documentation. 
  • Coordinate employee relocations, facilitating smooth transitions and ensuring adherence to internal policies and procedures. 
  • Support workforce position management and workforce planning by ensuring accuracy and integrity of data, maintaining up-to-date records and supporting data-driven decision-making through regular audits and updates. 
  • Support the planning and implementation of key People and Culture programs, including quarterly performance reviews, talent reviews, workforce planning, merit cycles, and engagement and culture surveys; make recommendations for program enhancements and improvements. 
  • Manage timelines and priorities for People & Culture initiatives and projects within the Business Partner team. 
  • Contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Senior Business Partners, providing research, analysis, and operational support as needed. 
  • Work collaboratively with key partners within People & Culture including the Operations, Talent Acquisition and Organizational Learning and Development teams to support the business and team. 
  • Stay up to date on human resources industry trends and employment law and legislation changes.  

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2 – 3 years of experience in Human Resources or People and Culture roles 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field 
  • Experience with leave management, immigration processes, and employee documentation 
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems such as Ceridian Dayforce, Workday, or similar 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • CPHR designation or working towards certification is an asset 

Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a base salary range of $63,000 - $79,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
