Position Summary

 

Leads and oversees training initiatives for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in alignment with New Jersey state regulations and company standards. Manages mandatory employee competencies and certification requirements to ensure full compliance. Supervises New Jersey-based training staff, maintains accurate training documentation and records, and supports all aspects of employee development within the region. Coordinates with State Directors to identify and address state-specific training needs. Collaborates with the Pennsylvania office as needed, while maintaining distinct and autonomous oversight of New Jersey training operations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Manage Trainer II, Trainer I, and part-time trainers who provide regulatory and professional development training such as CPR, Safety Training, management skills, etc.
  • Monitor and execute tasks for all employees to meet licensing and other regulations.
  • Creates and maintains training calendar and coordinates with department Subject Matter Experts to deliver specialized training as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate all recurring training requirements to meet compliance standards.
  • In conjunction with other stakeholders, creates and delivers training for New Employee Orientation, First Aid, CPR, and any other training required by Delta.
  • Ensure Med-Practicums are completed for new employee orientation and annual requirements. 
  • Design and maintain new employee orientation training manual to include relevant policies, procedures, systems, and communication protocol.
  • Design management training courses to develop leadership and communication skills.
  • Use professional writing skills when communicating and developing training materials.
  • Research best practices in the social services field to identify and/or develop training curriculum consistent with the company’s core values and philosophy.
  • Administer online training through various online learning sites and tracks transcripts for reporting purposes.
  • Assist the department in assessing instructional effectiveness and determining the impact of training on employee skills and KPI’s.
  • Serve as resource to program coordinators and managers to create learning strategies for employee continuous performance improvement
  • Participate in departmental needs assessments to identify skills and/or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed.
  • Assist Training Director (the “Director”) with development of training policies and procedures and new curriculum development.
  • Promote continuous quality improvement of training programs by updating course curriculum to meet required guidelines.
  • Administer evaluation for all training and solicit input from participants, in order to continually meet Delta guidelines.
  • Serve as Administrator of LMS to build department course programs, track training and provide reports as requested.
  • Cooperate with company and regulatory agency personnel during inspections or investigations.
  • Provide training to a variety of audiences in a variety of locations, from working one-on-one with staff through a specific issue to facilitating a large seminar with a diverse audience.
  • Maintain positive affiliations with other progressive companies for the purpose of networking, identifying best practices, and promoting a learning organization.
  • Promote and demonstrate ethical and professional conduct at all times ensuring employees conduct themselves in a similar manner.
  • Participatein the hiring and training of new training staff member(s).
  • Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the Director.
  • Maximize the development of employees and effectively articulate the mission and values of Delta through positive and supportive communication.
  • Effectively communicates the company’s vision, mission, core values and guiding support principles to support recipients, their families, employees, funding and accreditation agency personnel and the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications


Requirements

 

  • Demonstrated experience supervising employees and providing effective leadership and communication skills in a management capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in adult learning techniques and proficiency in effective instruction of employees.  Ability to manage develop, and support department training needs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Learning Management System, company HR systems and web delivery tools as necessary.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Zoom, and other presentation systems.
  • Proficient in the use of instructional design principles to develop new training courses, materials and classroom activities that engage and motivate participants.
  • Ability to use classroom management practices and facilitation skills to generate an interactive and positive learning experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with people, facilitating their growth and development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated strong facilitation, problem solving, decision-making, leadership, coaching and team-oriented skills.
  • Ability to use excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong organizational, data and electronic file management skills.
  • Possess experience in the social services/behavioral health field to develop training curriculum consistent with the company’s core values and philosophy.
  • Complete and pass mandated trainings including but not limited to CPR and First Aid. Must maintain Instructor certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Ability to manage, develop, and support department training needs.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and delegate duties to others.
  • Read, write and speak English; perform arithmetical calculations.
  • Ability to use telephone, voice mail, copier, facsimile machine, computer and calculator.
  • Physically assist workers in activities that involve lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, turning and manipulating objects.
  • Operate vehicles in accordance with applicable laws, insurance provider requirements and company policies and procedures.

 

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Driver’s license valid in their state of residence
  • Five to ten (5 - 10) years training experience in Human Services field. Appropriate additional experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirements and vice versa.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of supervisory experience
  • ATD Certification preferred
