The L.D. Batchelder Elementary School is seeking a Digital Learning Paraprofessional. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.

 

This position is  five (5) days per week (Monday through Friday), and approximately 36.75 hours/week. 

 

Essential Duties 

  • Maintain the Media Center as a place for active learning 
  • Consult with teachers to ensure that the library collection reflects topics that will be a focus in the classroom/school
  • Update the Destiny Library Catalog and Patron Database
  • Oversee and monitor the library collection. This includes purchasing new books and discarding old books 
  • Lead school-wide reading incentive initiatives (i.e. March Book Madness, Author Visits, Book Fair, etc.) 
  • Maintain all inventories of print and non-print materials and assist students in accessing reading and research materials 
  • Work closely with a Digital Learning Specialist to co-plan the integration of literature in Digital Learning instruction 
  • Assist the Digital Learning Specialist and teachers in the implementation of instructional programs 
  • Assist with Tier 1 hardware maintenance problems and report Tier 2 problems to technical support 
  • Help to maintain technology, technology carts, and robotics materials 
  • Assist the Digital Learning Specialist and classroom teachers in creating an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students 
  • Provide assistance to students in instructional activities 
  • Implement physical assistance to students as required 
  • Facilitate establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior
  • Collaborate and participate in school-based supervision of arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, bus duty, and/or classrooms
  • Provide assistance to the Principal and staff in the daily management of the school 
  • Substitute at all grade levels as requested 
  • Assume other duties/responsibilities as designated by the Principal or Designee

Requirements 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve independently 
  • Proficiency with PC, Chrome, and Apple platforms, related software, mobile devices, and assistive technology 
  • Experience with a variety of research processes, tools, and library databases such as Destiny 
  • Knowledge of Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 literature 
  • A willingness to learn new technologies 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience preferred 
    • This may include a background in education including college and/or work experience 
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
