Occupational Therapist Full-Time
DESCRIPTION:
The Occupational Therapist supports students with disabilities by promoting independence, participation, and access in the educational environment. They collaborate with educators, families, and other related service providers to help students develop the skills necessary for success in school, vocational training, and daily life.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid NH Occupational Therapist certification
Prior years of clinical experience, school-related experience preferred.
Professional interest in supporting post secondary transition, a plus.
Skills, competencies, and knowledge outlined in NH Admin Code 102.03
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate
REPORTS TO:
Student Services Coordinator, Building Principal, SAU 67 Director of Student Services
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Provide occupational therapy services as outlined in students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
2) Conduct evaluations and re-evaluations to determine students’ fine motor, visual-motor, sensory, and self-care needs.
3) Develop, implement, and monitor individualized therapy goals tailored to each individual student that align with their educational objectives.
4) Collaborate with teachers, special educators, related service providers, and families to integrate therapy strategies into the classroom and school environment.
5) Support students’ participation in academic tasks (e.g., writing, technology use, organization), functional skills (e.g., self-care, mobility, transitions), and pre-vocational/vocational activities.
6) Recommend and train staff/students on assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
7) Provide consultation and professional development to staff regarding sensory regulation, classroom adaptations, and student independence.
8) Document services, progress, and compliance with IDEA, state regulations, Medicaid program requirements and district policies.
9) Participate in IEP team meetings including transition planning for postsecondary goals.
10) Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain licensure and remain current with best practices.
EVALUATION:
The student services coordinator will evaluate performance of this position with input from the Director of Student Services.
