Position Summary:  

The purpose of this job is developing new business, underwriting, structuring, and the closing of commercial and consumer loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio.  Represents the bank in local community through active participation in community affairs and participates in marketing all the bank’s products and services.

Essential Task Statement(s)

   Branch Credit/Ownership (80%)

 

  • Solicits first mortgage loans.  Informs prospective loan clients of the financial institution’s underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations. 
  • Personally interviews all loan applicants.
  • Completes each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner to permit the good faith estimate to be mailed within the requested three-business-day period. 
  • Screens loan requests based on financial institution policies and on types of loans offered by the institution.
  • Orders appraisals, credit reports, background checks, reference checks and other information as needed on residential loan applicants.
  • Personally answers incoming phone calls and schedules appointments.
  • Communicates complex approvals or denials to the borrower, real estate agent or builder.
  • Maintains and submits a source-of-business log monthly to supervisor.
  • Distributes market data, rate flyers and general loan information to the real estate community as directed by financial institution management.
  • Promotes and participates in the financial institution’s special credit programs and other CRA programs
  • Actively participates in local business and community activities and maintains close contact with local builders, real estate brokers and agents, customers, and prospects.
  • Participates in various community activities on behalf of the bank
  • Ensure bank is in compliance with federal banking regulations including, but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, Community Reinvestment Act, American with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Federal Reserve’s “lettered” regulations, and Mortgage Loan Officer processing roles and responsibilities relating to each act.

   Customer Service (10%)

  • Represent Guaranty Bank & Trust Company professionally, efficiently, and tactfully
  • Acknowledge and greet customers with a smile, call customer by their name, ask if they need any additional assistance, thank customer at end of every conversation
  • Ensure continuing development of professional relationships with management and colleagues. 
  • Follow all bank policies and procedures
  • Answer and assist incoming callers with questions and requests; subsequently route callers, as appropriate.
  • Receive incoming bank visitors and assist in directing them appropriately.

Position Qualifications

   Education:       Required – Bachelor’s degree in business or finance or equivalent.

Preferred – Post –secondary certificate or degree, BA/BS degree preferred, experience will be considered.

Experience:     Required – 3 to 5 years of Mortgage lending in banking or related field.

Preferred – 5 to 8 years of experience in banking or a related area
