Summary

Ocean Reef Club is a premier private club community in Key Largo, Florida, known for its exceptional amenities and world-class hospitality. We are seeking a dynamic racquet sports professional to assist in overseeing all aspects of Tennis & Games Center operations. This role is centered around ensuring a well-conceived, well-developed, and well-executed Tennis, Pickleball, and Croquet program. Successful member engagement is key to the position’s success.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, other duties may be assigned. This role supports the following aspects of the Tennis & Games Center, including but not limited to:


Technical

• Manage Tennis, Pickleball, and Croquet programs in collaboration with the Director of Racquet Sports and other professionals. This includes programming, facilities, maintenance, the Pro Shop, and all staff within these areas.

• Collaborate with the Director of Racquet Sports, Head Pickleball Professional, and other racquet sports staff to ensure excellence in programming, staffing, and facility operations.

• Assist the Director of Racquet Sports in hiring for all Tennis & Games Center positions (e.g., job postings, interviews, reference checks).

• Support recruitment, development, and retention of team members, and provide weekly performance updates to the Director of Racquet Sports.

• Ensure high-quality instruction and teaching standards are consistently met.

• Monitor member and guest survey feedback and share relevant insights with the team; respond to feedback trends as appropriate.

• Coordinate and execute a wide variety of Tennis and Pickleball events for Members and Guests, including conference and special events. Draft and supply Recreation Agreements as needed.

• Promote and communicate all racquet sports events through established Club communication channels.

• Assist in identifying and developing revenue-generating and member service opportunities, in collaboration with the VP of Sports and Amenities.

• Oversee scheduling of Teaching Professionals, Front Desk Staff, and Court Maintenance Staff in collaboration with the Director of Racquet Sports. Provide schedules when supervisors are unavailable.

• Manage payroll processes, including time edits and commission distribution, with daily oversight required.

• Effectively forecast and manage departmental expenses.

• Perform administrative duties such as PAFs, work orders, documentation, payables/receivables, DUPR score entry, equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, and mailings.

• Assist in merchandising the Pro Shop in collaboration with Center Leads and the Director of Racquet Sports.

• Input all clinics and standing lessons into the online scheduling system.

• Maintain accurate records of Tennis, Pickleball, and Croquet activity and prepare monthly summaries for board reports (e.g., lessons taught, court utilization).

• Attend or lead staff meetings in the absence of the Director of Racquet Sports to ensure effective communication and adherence to departmental goals and policies.

• Deliver high-quality, engaging, and progressive racquet sports instruction while balancing administrative and operational responsibilities.


General

• Maintain positive, professional relationships with Members and Guests at all times.

• Work collaboratively with all staff and management, promoting a supportive and respectful team environment.

• Actively solicit feedback from members and guests and report relevant information to the Director of Racquet Sports and/or VP of Sports and Amenities.

• Support Pro Shop sales, game matching, guest registration, and court reservations; answer phones in a courteous, professional manner.

• Observe and respond to all safety-related situations.

• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all SOPs and emergency procedures.

• Demonstrate and implement the ORC Promises and uphold ORC service standards, including personal presentation and uniform compliance.

• Assist as needed with maintenance and upkeep of the Tennis & Games Center.

• Actively support Club-wide initiatives and participate as a member of the Ocean Reef Club management team.

• Deliver exceptional service to a discriminating clientele with professionalism and tact.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support the highest standards of service.


Qualifications

• Strong financial management and understanding of tennis operations.

• Excellent playing, teaching, and programming skills.

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities.

• Ability to clearly convey tennis concepts to players of all levels.

• Outgoing, enthusiastic personality is essential.


Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• USPTA certification required.

• Minimum two years of experience as an Assistant Tennis Professional, preferably in a private club environment.

• Familiarity with court maintenance practices is a plus.


Language Skills

• Must be able to comprehend and communicate in English with Members, Guests, and fellow Associates.


Physical Demands

• Work takes place in outdoor and indoor settings.

• Noise level is generally moderate.

• Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

• Expected to be a team player and provide lateral service when needed.

• Must adhere to the Ocean Reef Club Associate Handbook and Quality Job Standards.


Attendance, Appearance, and Conduct

• Regular attendance is essential to the role. Irregular attendance is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Associates may be required to work flexible schedules to meet Club needs.

• Vacation and personal time must be pre-approved by the Director of Racquet Sports and align with department needs.

• Associates must maintain proper grooming as outlined in the Associate Handbook.

• Compliance with all Ocean Reef Club rules and policies is required. Violations may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
