Position: Medical Billing Follow Up Specialist
Location: Norwood Office
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Hybrid, 2 days in office/3 days remote after full in office training
Pay Range: $18-22 per hour

Responsibilities:
As a Medical Billing Follow Up Specialist at Riverhills Neuroscience, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of our billing processes. Your responsibilities include:
- Timely follow-up on submitted claims and patient billing, identify errors and resolution of denials.
- Post/correct/adjust payments received from patients and insurance companies in alignment with best practices for claim resolution.
- Process claims to/from insurance companies and/or assistance funds.
- Research and respond to co-worker's inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.
- Monitor unpaid claims and initiate tracers.
- Perform collection activities including following up on outstanding accounts and unpaid balances via mail and telephone.
- Thoroughly review and understand Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Update patient demographic and insurance information in the billing system.
- Participates in continuing educational activities relative to assigned duties and responsibilities.
- All other duties as assigned by manager.
Background and Experience:
- Minimum of 3- 5 years of medical billing experience in a health care organization is required.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and practice management system is required.
- Strong understanding of major insurance carriers including, HMOs, PPOs and government payers, Fluent in Medical Terminology
- Recent experience working accounts including billing, collections, denials and appeals.
- Ability to deal with patients and staff with tact and diplomacy, capacity to deal with severely ill patients.
- Ability to calmly handle multiple tasks at once.
- Good interpersonal skills.
