Metro Transit’s Employee Services Division is looking a Special Duty Assignment Talent Associate! Metro Transit’s Employee Services Division (Human Resources) supports the largest department in King County through recruitment and selection, workforce planning and development, HRIS data and analytics, and electronic records management. We're immensely proud that our efforts enable Metro Transit to continue meeting the mobility needs of the county's growing population.This recruitment may immediately fill multiple Special Duty Assignment (HR Associate classification) vacancy within the Employee Services, Rail Talent Acquisition team with an anticipated duration of up to six (6) months with the possibility of extension. Additionally, this selection process may create an eligibility pool for future SDA vacancies in this classification and workgroup. The eligibility pool will be retained for 12 months from the posting date and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority.

Position Duties
Applying equity and social justice principles is a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all King County employees. In this role, you will apply equity and social justice principles that exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices to all aspects of the work. Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing administrative support for full-cycle recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for candidates, ensuring seamless coordination with recruiters and the agency, all while delivering outstanding customer service.
- Engaging with candidates and staff in person, via phone, Teams and through email.
- Schedule and oversee candidate assessments and interviews.
- Managing HR-related documentation, ensuring accurate tracking and filing both electronically and in paper format.
- Perform comprehensive background checks on candidates, including reviewing criminal records, employment references, driving records, medical examinations, and compliance with DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations.
- Oversee the documentation and completion of hiring procedures for new hires within Metro Transit Department.
- Utilize PeopleSoft, NeoGov, Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint to monitor recruitment efforts, draft correspondence, and compile reports.
- Use Microsoft Outlook and Teams for organizing meetings and managing responses for team members.
- Uphold strict confidentiality regarding HR matters, including employment decisions and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure adherence to employment standards and legal requirements, including Federal, State, and local laws, as well as DOT and CDL regulations.
- Crosstrain with colleagues to provide mutual support within the Transit HR team.
- Represent and promote Metro Transit at events, advocating for the organization as a premier employer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in handling increasingly responsible recruitment and/or human resources administrative support responsibilities OR any equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience that provide the ability to perform the core competencies of the position.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; understanding the importance of precision.
- Task management and prioritization skills that support the ability to work on several projects simultaneously and meet specified deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively problem-solve and apply good judgment and initiative.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Demonstrated ability to apply excellent customer service skills both orally and in writing, including providing professional and courteous service.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group.
- Skill in reviewing and compiling data, developing reports, and creating charts and diagrams.
- Demonstrated skill in creating, proofreading, editing, and formatting documents according to standard business writing practices in Microsoft Word and other systems.
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge and experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams and electronic document signing software (such as Adobe Pro and DocuSign).
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge or experience with Metro Transit policies and practices.
- Knowledge of human resource practices and guidelines.
- Experience with test administration practices.
- Demonstrated skill in using PeopleSoft or other HRIS/Human Capital Management systems.
- Demonstrated skill in using NEOGOV or other electronic applicant tracking systems.
- Demonstrated skill in using Laserfiche or other electronic employee record software.
- Experience supporting unionized employees (or experience in a unionized environment).
- Demonstrated experience providing administrative support for public sector recruitment teams, especially in high volume and/or safety-sensitive recruitments.

Work Schedule
This position is anticipated to be full time, assigned 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday. These positions are non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and are eligible for overtime pay with supervisor approval.
Union Status This position is not represented by a union.
Work Location: The main work site associated with this position is King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson St, Seattle WA 98104. Talent Associates perform most of their work through teleworking; however, they are expected to support on-site recruiting activities at a variety of King County buildings, bases, and public venues.
Note: Employees must live in Washington state and within a reasonable distance of their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Teleworking Requirement: The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly in a hybrid work environment with a minimum of 1 day a week in the office. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
