We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on technology leader to join our Tax Products Squad. This team builds and operates critical services like Second LookTax Resolution ServicesTax Identity Shield, and Peace of Mind—key pillars of our Block Next strategy. You’ll also lead the engineering of our digital communication channels that connect Tax Pros with clients.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll guide a team of engineers working in a cloud-native Azure environment, collaborating with Product and Design to deliver seamless client experiences while ensuring operational excellence during tax season.

 

Day to day you'll...

  • Define and execute the technical strategy for tax products and client communication platforms.
  • Lead agile engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align on goals, delivery milestones, and budgets.
  • Ensure flawless operations during peak tax season, proactively resolving risks and blockers.
  • Coach engineers on design and coding best practices, fostering a culture of innovation and learning.
  • Drive adoption of AI tools and emerging technologies to elevate team productivity.
What you'll bring to the team...:
  • Passion for building inclusive, client-first experiences.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in a product-centric, agile environment.
  • Strong technical background in cloud-native architectures (preferably Azure), CI/CD, and modern SDLC.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Experience with tax-related products or regulated environments is a plus.

 

  • Leadership & Program Delivery

    • 5+ years of experience in business, consulting, or technology leadership roles or equivalent.
    • 4+ years of product development experience, including oversight of large-scale, mission-critical initiatives that drive significant business transformation.
    • Proven success leading cross-functional teams in matrixed environments, with a focus on delivery excellence and stakeholder alignment.
    • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage competing deadlines, and deliver results under pressure.
  • Communication & Influence

    • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Adept at presenting to and influencing diverse audiences, from engineering teams to senior executives.
    • Strong facilitation skills to drive alignment and decision-making across stakeholders.
  • Team Development & Coaching

    • Superior supervisory and matrix management capabilities, with a track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
    • Passion for fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
  • Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent experience through a combination of education and work.
