POSITION SUMMARY:
The Procurement Manager, Packaging and Special Projects is a dynamic high visibility role working directly with suppliers and cross functionally across the organization with operations, sales, marketing, finance, and other departments to optimize the packaging presentation and cost structure of Hawaiian Host Group’s high-quality products. Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the procurement functions that are related to the manufacturing process. This includes purchasing functions for consumables, raw materials, packaging materials, and supplies related to the manufacturing process. Additionally, this role will have responsibilities relating to cost-saving packaging projects, new product introductions, packaging sustainability efforts, and additional special projects across the procurement function
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning
Assists in the Procurement strategy, in collaboration with the Senior Procurement Manager to achieve the company’s goals and objectives
Develops a continuous improvement strategy to optimize the utilization of company assets and cross-functional efficiencies and effectiveness, as related to procurement.
Establishes and tracks cost reduction / cost avoidance initiatives to ensure maximum cost savings. Works with suppliers to minimize and mitigate price and cost increases.
Maintain and build upon existing supplier relationships to leverage expertise and gain a deep understanding to each suppliers’ capabilities to support Hawaiian Hosts Groups goals and initiatives. Determines key RFP timing if needed in a particular area of procurement.
Procurement
Oversees the sourcing strategy and supplier negotiations for the procurement of all packaging materials, ingredients, and manufacturing supplies.
Assists and guides procurement management with negotiations, reviews and approvals of all purchase contracts and supply agreements for packaging and raw materials.
Responsible for department achieving Gold Standards, and internal quality standards, established by the Quality Assurance Manager.
Collaboration
Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure alignment and efficiencies in the procurement and demand planning process.
Identifies, establishes, and manages internal and external stakeholders related to the procurement and demand planning process.
Works to develop and manage a collaborative team.
Ability to prepare and provide reports on a regular cadence reflecting procurements performance and conduct presentations of analysis and recommendations to leadership.
Coaching and Development
Ensures direct report(s) have clear achievable expectations, resources required to accomplish assigned tasks.
Provides necessary guidance, support and resources required of direct reports to meet core function expectations.
Works with direct reports on a professional development plan; to include deliverables on coaching and action steps for individuals.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Regular attendance is required for the position.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, or equivalent.
Must have at least five (5) years of experience in the field related to procurement.
Must have at least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
Must have at least three (3) years of experience in sourcing, selecting, and designing new product packaging solutions across various materials and formats
Experience with Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle Fusion, NetSuite, or other Enterprise Resource Planning Software.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
High level of analytical ability, to resolve complex problems.
Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
CPSM or CSCP certification desired.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting for extended periods, often during meetings or computer work.
Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
Ability to work longer hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
Standing and walking during presentations, client visits, or while on market visits.
Regular use of hands/fingers to operate computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.
Close visual acuity for analyzing data, viewing a computer screen, and preparing presentations/ reports.
Hearing and speaking clearly in person, over the phone, and when giving presentations.
Occasional lifting or carrying of materials (such as product, promotional items, or equipment) up to 25 pounds.
Reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching when handling files or sales materials.
Travel by car or airplane, as needed, to meet clients or attend business events.
