Job Title:  Maker Space Manager 

Job Classification: Certified/Licensed Instructional 

Reports to: Director of CTE Programs/Building Administrator 

Work Schedule: Academic Calendar 

 

General Description: 

The Maker Space Manager is responsible for designing, organizing, and facilitating a dynamic, hands-on learning environment that promotes creativity, innovation, and problem-solving. This role provides students in grades within their building with opportunities to engage in project-based learning using tools such as robotics kits, arts and crafts supplies, digital fabrication tools,laser cutters, 3D printers, and other STEAM resources. The Maker Space Manager collaborates with teachers to integrate design thinking and maker education into classroom curricula. 


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology, Engineering, Art/Design, or related field
  • Experience working with children in a teaching, tech, or creative learning environment
  • Familiarity with maker education, project-based learning, and STEAM integration
  • Comfort with tools such as 3D printers, robotics kits, coding platforms, and crafting materials
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills
  • Creative mindset and enthusiasm for hands-on learning
  • Teaching license or background in instructional technology preferred

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and manage maker space programming for students 
  • Teach students safe and appropriate use of maker tools and materials
  • Plan and facilitate design challenges, engineering projects, and open-ended exploration
  • Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum integration and cross-disciplinary projects
  • Maintain inventory, order supplies, and organize the physical space for accessibility and safety
  • Guide students in developing creativity, collaboration, and perseverance through making
  • Track student participation and learning outcomes related to STEAM objectives
  • Stay current with trends in maker education and introduce new tools and ideas to the program
  • Use the RIASEC framework to facilitate hands-on, experiential learning in the makerspace.
  • Build foundational college and career readiness skills in our students, preparing them for their future.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of CTE Programs or Building Administrators. 

School Activities: 

  • Lead or assist in school-wide STEAM events, exhibitions, or project showcases
  • Support after-school programs or clubs related to making, coding, or design
  • Participate in school committees or instructional teams as needed
  • Help develop, implement, and support RIASEC and the World of Work Career Exploration programs and initiatives in your building

Must demonstrate foundational professionalism, including consistent attendance, punctuality, adherence to school policies and procedures, and strong employability skills. These are considered essential, non-negotiable expectations of the role.
