Description

The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas is the Catholic Church in Northeast Kansas: Growing as Disciples of Jesus; Making Disciples for Jesus. The Chancery Office is seeking to hire a part-time Receptionist, which will be responsible for operating the main switchboard, receiving all calls and visitors to the Chancery, sorting mail and other clerical duties as assigned. This position is onsite and will average 16 hours per week, with the opportunity for a flexible work schedule.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete building opening/closing procedures, which includes interior and exterior doors, turning on lights and equipment. 
  • Receive all calls and visitors to the Chancery offices in a professional, hospitable and service-focused manner, and directs them appropriately.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of how each office prefers to handle their calls, i.e. to whom specific matters in each office should be directed.
  • Maintain the schedule for all conference room usage.
  • Receive and sort mail, notify offices of faxes and deliveries.
  • Ensure the coffee pots are cleaned and in off position in the evening before close.
  • Provide clerical assistance to Chancery offices as needed.

  • Ability to follow direction, work independently and as part of the team.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Links mission, vision, values, goals and strategies to everyday work.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent  required.  
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience is preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word required, Excel is a strong plus. 
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred.
