Follow the laboratory procedures for specimen suitability for testing. Perform waived, moderate and high complexity tests ordered by a physician or authorized personnel using approved methodology for test analysis. Report and maintain records of patient test results.
Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
Adhere to the laboratory quality control policies. Document all activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed to include troubleshooting.
Follow the Laboratory established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the established levels of performance.
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Correct the problem or immediately notify the General Supervisor or designated Laboratory Charge Medical Technologist who will correct the problem or immediately notify the Technical Supervisor.
Designated Technologist with at least one or two years documented experience in a high complexity laboratory, and as recommended by the General Supervisor, may be designated to perform Laboratory Charge Technologist duties for the Laboratory General Supervisor who is scheduled off duty.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory established performance specifications.
Comply with all Covenant and Laboratory policies, procedures and safety practices. Demonstrate working knowledge of appropriate safety protocol to include universal precautions, MSDS safety program, use of personal protective equipment in designated areas, and proper hand washing techniques.
Trains new employees and teaches MLT and MT Interns as designated by the Manager.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited college/university with MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) CM certification within 1 year of hire.
6 months of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Technical knowledge, skills and abilities as they relate to the various areas of the clinical lab.
LIS applications (i.e. Cerner applications and databases)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
