Job Summary:
We’re looking for a hands-on commercial fire pro who can estimate accurately, navigate code and permitting, and drive projects from design through AHJ certification—while also owning client relationships and closing business. This is a technical and sales role: you’ll scope systems, price labor and material, secure approvals, and ensure smooth handoff to operations.

What You’ll Do:
Estimate & Scope
- Perform site walks and plan takeoffs; produce accurate labor-hour estimates, device counts, and materials lists.
- Draft clear, buildable scopes of work for design-build and plan/spec projects.
- Prepare professional quotes using company quoting/takeoff tools.
Code, Permits & AHJ Coordination
- Apply NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and related codes; interpret specifications and submittal requirements.
- Prepare and submit permitting packages; coordinate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to approval.
- Support acceptance testing, commissioning, and final certification (e.g., Record of Completion).
Project Interface
- Collaborate with GCs and trades, attend precon/PM meetings, and align on schedules, sequencing, and site requirements.
- Work cross-functionally with technicians, project management, sales, and admin to push projects to successful completion.
- Identify and obtain change orders; document scope deviations and pricing timely.
Client Engagement
- Meet customers in person, via Zoom, and by phone; deliver consultative presentations and close business.
- Maintain follow-through from proposal to turnover; ensure a clean handoff and great customer experience.
What You’ll Need:
- High School or Equivalent.
- Proven experience estimating, designing, and/or installing commercial fire alarm systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and building plans, quantify materials, and create accurate labor-hour projections.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and familiarity with local building/fire codes; comfortable navigating municipality-specific
- Experience preparing submittals, coordinating permits, and supporting inspections and certification with AHJs.
- Professional communication skills; confident with clients and effective in contractor and internal team settings.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and consistent follow-up.
Big Pluses
- Prior success selling commercial fire alarm projects.
- NICET II+ in Fire Alarm Systems, IPSI, or IMSA fire certification.
- Familiarity with common platforms (e.g., Fire-Lite, Silent Knight, Potter) and battery/voltage drop calcs, addressing, sequences of operation, and as-builts.
