Description
SUMMARY:
Work within the product development team to design, develop, and research new technologies that will further expand the product line of laboratory instrumentation. Provide hands on engineering expertise required for the research and launch of new products as well as the support and upgrading of existing products and related systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and bring up new and complex mixed-signal precision circuitry and systems within a multi-disciplinary team, working closely with other embedded developers and engineers
- Provide direction as required for component selection, prototype fabrication, under supervision
- Perform schematic design and capture with PCB layout using Altium Designer
- Design new Embedded assemblies under supervision
- Program embedded firmware using C and C++
- Expected to have full set of PCB assembly skills
- Support legacy products, cost-down projects
- Maximize the concepts of lean manufacturing
- Ensure new products are consistent with DFM principles
- Technical liaison to service and manufacturing
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor of Science or higher in an engineering discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- 5+ years’ of relevant experience
- Strong technical problem solving
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
- Demonstrated proficiency with Altium or related circuit board software
- Demonstrated proficiency with circuit board design
- Demonstrated proficiency with microprocessors, digital and analog circuitry, and related designs
- Some familiarity with SPICE simulation
- Strong understanding of system and embedded architecture
- Ability to read/create schematics and bill of materials
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting ability
- Ability to use hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, etc.
- Ability to use reflow oven and other automated PCB assembly equipment
- Basic familiarity with design for EMC compliance
