In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.

Language tutors will assist faculty in the Fluency for Singers courses and Diction courses at all levels, including Survey of Diction. Focusing on Italian, German and French they will support the work done in the classroom through meeting and working one-on-one tutoring with students in need of additional support.Duties and Responsibilities:
Language tutors will meet weekly with students who require tutoring in either any of the Fluency for Singers courses or the Graduate Remedial language courses. Additionally they may be asked to meet with students requiring tutoring in Graduate Diction; French, Italian or German diction, or Survey of Diction.
Content of tutoring will be mutually determined by you and the teacher of these courses as per the needs of the student in tutoring.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Spoken and written fluency in the tutoring language (for Fluency classes)
Understanding of the use of the language in opera and in song texts
Fluency in the use of the IPA for the required language and clear understanding of the rules of diction as they apply to that language
Must have taken the appropriate courses or received Advanced Placement in Fluency for Singers in the tutoring language (M-LT 2703-04, 3701-02, 4701-02); and/or for diction (M-SK 0711, 0712, 0713, 0714 or Graduate Diction)
Must have initiative and the ability to work independently with an assigned student as well as to keep to a self-developed schedule
Experience with one-on-one teaching is a plus
Skills Learned:
Gain independent teaching experience
Develop administrative skills related to scheduling, organizing lessons, securing teaching space, and other tasks related to the organization around the actual teaching
Experience working under a mentor teacher while gaining insight into how language is taught and how language is attained by learners with a range of learning styles
Interview with Chair of Voice required; demonstration of use of language will be part of this interview
