The Special Procedure nurse performs a variety of complex tasks which may include assisting in the provision of direct patient care to patients undergoing care in a procedural unit. Delivers specialty specific and/or ambulatory care including pre- and post-procedure assessment and monitoring; IV moderate sedation, chemotherapy, and intra-procedural care; for example, and not limited to: GYN Surgery, OMFS (Oral Maximus Facial Surgery) Oncology and GI procedure patients. Provides telephone triage and clinical advice appropriately; coordinates the follow-up care of patients; practice management support and patient education. Proficiency will be needed for the following; IV placement, preparation and administration of IV medication, IM injections, catheterizations, ACLS, BCLS.
