Location:  Tennessee Hatchery, Lafayette, TN

Schedule:  Sunday-Saturday 12pm-11pm (4 on/4 off)

Hours: Sunday-Saturday from 12:00pm until 11:00pm. Includes working holidays. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Position Summary:

  • Fog hatcher halls and setter halls 1, 2, 3, embrex room, clean box room, pull room and processing room, clean/sanitize box room and chick room, clean chick counter, go through customer chicks, setter and turning arm checks. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Fog hatcher halls and setter halls 1, 2, 3, embrex room, clean box room, pull room and processing room.  (25%)
  • Clean/sanitize box room and chick room, clean chick counter. (30%)
  • Laundry (15%)
  • Go through customer chicks. (5%)
  • Setter and turning arm checks. (5%)

Other duties, responsibilities and activities

  • These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: clean and refill bootwash to entry of smoking area, chemical room, and offal room, clean breakroom, and observe automatic formaldehyde dispensing into hatchers. (20%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements/Safety:

  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.  Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company.  No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing.  Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques.  Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds at times. Push/pull setter buggies on casters weighing up to 700-1300 pounds.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Tools and Equipment: Fogger, high pressure wand, water hose, floor scraper, broom, dust pan, sanitize jug.
  • Environment:  Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required:  Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical/rubber gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required.  Ear plugs will be used as needed.   NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed. 
  • Chemicals Commonly Used:  Formaldehyde, disinfectants, and foamers.
  • Safety: TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.  TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
