Job Title: Senior Manager/Director of Quality

 

Proud Source Water is looking for a Senior Manager of Quality to lead our Quality team. This role will be based in one of our facilities in Mackay, Idaho or Marianna, FL and will report to the VP of Operations. At a glance, this position is multi-facetted and requires self-motivation and leadership skills within fast-paced spring water bottling facilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement quality assurance procedures and policies for food and beverage production.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with SQF and HACCP standards.
  • Ensure SQF certification compliance by performing validation audit, updating and developing food safety protocols
  • Investigate, analyze, and assess consumer and customer complaints. Develop, train, and launch the process to engage the entire manufacturing team on the process to investigate and improve complaint processes. Ensure product non-conformances and process non-conformances are tracked and logged for corrective action into the Quality system.
  • Support the analysis of customer and consumer feedback to identify improvement opportunities. Drive improvement by implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide Quality and Food Safety technical guidance, analysis, and leadership driving improvements in manufacturing processes, sanitation processes/systems, and quality systems.
  • Monitors and enforces (Good Manufacturing Practices) HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), and other employee safety, food safety and quality programs throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Work with the plant to determine root causes for food safety and quality related issues, develop and implement corrective action plans.
  • Ensure all products meet FDA compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and troubleshoot non-conformances (raw materials, packaging, product, environmental monitoring, etc.) and drive root cause analysis. Assign corrective action, collaborate with supply-quality and other functions, and follow-up on completion.
  • Compile and analyze KPIs indicative of production line health (quality performance, microbiological quality, preventive maintenance, sanitation effectiveness, etc.) and drive improvement actions.
  • Process audit Laboratory QA/C testing, product sensory evaluation and execute non-conformance product protocol (i.e., Hold)
  • Assure compliance with food safety and quality standards throughout all operations and processes by conducting process/system audits, developing and implementing corrective actions.
  • Participate in departmental and cross-functional continuous improvement projects as assigned by management.
  • Work with the plant to determine root causes for food safety and quality related issues, develop and implement corrective action plans.
  • Actively participate to ensure cross-functional issues are resolved and site concerns are addressed.
  • Informs, advises and updates company management of all quality related issues.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • BS degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology or other related technical field.
  • 2 – 3 years of QA/QC experience in food manufacturing or related fields
  • Strong knowledge of SQF, HACCP, and food safety standards.
  • Experience conducting audits and inspections in a food production environment.
  • Hands-on GMP / Food Safety / Quality System audit experience.
  • Familiarity with food microbiology and chemistry is preferred.
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally as well as in writing; demonstrate ability to write effective technical procedures and reports; bilingual in English / Spanish is preferred.
  • Able to take on projects with minimum supervision, complete tasks in a proficient manner, and work as a team.
  • The ability to develop/implement core work practices and standards that ensure excellence in quality.
  • The ability to rapidly assess, analyze, and quickly resolve complicated quality problems with little initial information or direction and with varying degrees of ambiguity.
  • The ability to multitask and manage priorities while allocating time to long-term, quality continuous improvement projects.
  • Strong “self-management” skills and be comfortable working with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed to support 7-day per week, 24-hour per day production facilities. Work schedules could include off-shift or weekend work.
