Role
We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our Network Operations Center (NOC). In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting critical network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance. You will work closely with analysts, senior NOSC engineers, and external vendors to resolve incidents, optimize network operations, and implement changes.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in network engineering who thrives in mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities
- Monitor enterprise and customer networks using NOC tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, Zabbix).
Respond to and resolve network alerts, incidents, and escalations from Tier 1 NOC staff.
Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues across routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
Perform root cause analysis of outages and provide corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Implement configuration changes during maintenance windows (routing, switching, firewall, VPN).
Collaborate with carriers, ISPs, and vendors to resolve circuit or hardware issues.
Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, changes, and network topology.
Assist in capacity planning and performance optimization efforts.
Develop and refine SOPs, playbooks, and escalation procedures for NOC operations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
2+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise or service provider networking.
Proficiency with routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS).
Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network security fundamentals.
Familiarity with NOC monitoring and ticketing tools.
Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
Cisco CCNA / CCNP, Juniper JNCIA, or equivalent vendor certification.
Experience with automation (Python, Ansible, or scripting).
Exposure to cloud networking (AWS VPCs, Azure VNets, GCP networking).
Prior experience in a 24/7 operations or service provider environment
