The Quality Control Technician ensures products meet quality standards by inspecting, testing, and documenting throughout the production process. You will work with raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to identify defects and ensure compliance with specifications. You will also play a role in maintaining equipment, calibrating instruments, and collaborating with production teams to resolve quality issues and implement improvements. There will be no direct reports for this position, and you will report to the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting and Testing: Conducting routine quality inspections at various stages of production, including raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. 
  • Using Measurement Tools: Utilizing various tools and equipment to measure product dimensions, characteristics, and performance against established standards. 
  • Identifying Defects: Recognizing and documenting any deviations from quality standards or specifications. 
  • Recording and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of inspection results, documenting quality issues, and reporting non-conformance to supervisors. 
  • Equipment Maintenance: Setting up, calibrating, and maintaining testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability. 
  • Collaboration: Working with production teams, engineers, and other departments to address quality problems and implement corrective actions. 
  • Documentation: Creating and maintaining quality control documentation, including inspection reports, procedures, and work instructions. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Suggesting process improvements and participating in quality improvement initiatives. 
  • Safety Compliance: Following safety guidelines and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. 
  • Training: Training production staff on quality control procedures and standards. Production Planning and Scheduling: Maintaining production schedules, ensuring efficient workflow, and coordinating with different departments to meet deadlines. 

Qualifications

  • Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience as a quality control technician

Employment will be conditioned upon passing a drug screen and background check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using measurement tools, testing equipment, and quality control methodologies. 
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to inspection and documentation. 
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and troubleshoot quality issues. 
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify the root cause of quality problems and implement effective solutions. 
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments. 
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others. 
  • Strong Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools: Experience with production planning software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.   Netsuite experience a plus

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Close vision is required for this job. While performing the responsibilities of this job, employees are required to speak and understand English, stand and sit, and use their fingers and thumbs. Employees are frequently required to reach with their hands and arms and are occasionally required to kneel or stoop.

While working in the factory, performing inspections and troubleshooting equipment, employees may be asked to work under varying weather conditions, operate heavy machinery and tolerate moderate noise levels.
