Position Summary:
This position is responsible to reinforce and build upon the existing Safety Culture by ensuring the Company’s safety, health and environmental programs are in compliance and are effective in providing a safe workplace. The position will be based out of the Rochester site (estimated initially at 50% and expected to be approximately 70% over time) and will also have safety, health and environmental compliance oversight for the Sauk Rapids, Minnesota site (estimated initially at 50% and expected to be approximately 30% over time).
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular safety, health and environmental walk-through inspections of the plant and warehouses.
- Implement and maintain Safety & Health programs to ensure programs are up to date and in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Coordinate and/or conduct safety training including Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety, Right-to-Know/ Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment, Bloodborne Pathogens, Confined Space Entry, Power Industrial Trucks, Fall Protection, First Aid/CPR, Fire Safety, etc.
- Serve on the First Aid Safety Team (FAST) and coordinate medical services for injured employees.
- Assist with incident/accident investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Submit and manage Workers’ Compensation claims and maintain the OSHA 300 Log of Injuries and Illnesses.
- Work with HR, Managers and Supervisors to coordinate return to work for injured employees.
- Ensure the Company’s continued compliance and participation in MNSHARP. Participate in MNSHARP audits.
- Support Site OSHA PSM/EPA RMP program compliance initiatives.
- Serve on the Safety Committee and HAZMAT Team.
- Coordinate safety and health activities including hearing tests, flu shots, fire, tornado drills and Annual Wellness Walk.
- Administer the Driver Qualification Program to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain employee medical records and all recordkeeping for safety and health activities.
- Assist with organizing plant meetings, employee appreciation events, cookouts, wellness events and other employee activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Related safety, health and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and state Workers’ Compensation laws
- Certified or able to be certified in CPR and First Aid
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to read, write, speak and understand instructions and directions in the English language
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
- Strong working knowledge of Minnesota - A Workplace Accident and Injury Reduction (AWAIR) Program and Ergonomics Statute is preferred
- 10-hour/30-hour OSHA General Industry certification is preferred
Benefits Overview
Competitive base salary ($75,000 - $95,000 annual annually). Base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Full benefits package, including medical/ vision/ dental/life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including an annual incentive program based on individual and company performance.
