SUMMARY
Responsible for being a liaison to our business community when needed for providing data analytics support by designing programs, reports, dashboards and data extractions utilizing the core programming language, SQL, and other data analysis / visualization tools, such as Power BI. As liaison, this position will assist other IMRF staff when collecting data, analyzing data, translating analysis results, and otherwise supporting customer service and/or business operations as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Identify important data which includes the entire process of collecting, linking, cleaning, enriching, transforming, and augmenting internal information while being sensitive to security and privacy
· Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of business processes
· Generate and collect relevant data from sources contained in the IMRF line of business application, public website and secure websites
· Use data analytical expertise and business knowledge to extract insights from data and enrich data collected by IMRF for:
o Creation of ratios and variables
o Identifying trends or derivatives (changes in customer behavior)
o Identifying categories from numerical variables (e.g., low, medium, high instead of actual number) that can then enable powerful action
o Identify patterns that may be actionable
· Responsible for creating, maintaining, analyzing and updating reports and data tables
· Work with data to create advanced charts, tables, graphs and automation, including data refresh schedules and delivery methods
· Work with business units to help translate data analytics and data-driven insights into business implications and actions
· Support IMRF’s fulfillment of the fund’s vision in support of its overall business strategy
· Create use cases that employ data-driven insights to optimize internal processes, fraud prevention, etc. that will help align IMRF to successfully implement new insights based on use cases
· Develop data visualization and interpretation approaches to answer business questions
· Detect flaws in data records and lead correction processes
· Work with the Information Technology Department to specify and maintain data warehouses
· Document via written statements analysis results
· Other duties of similar scope and complexity as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

· Flexibility to work extended days (over 7 hours per day) and extended workweeks (over 5 days per week). Must be able to work extremely long hours and on weekends during critical project phases
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required
· Bachelors’ Degree in relevant field (Information Science, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance or Mathematics)
· 3 years of intermediate SQL
· 3-5 years of related work experience
· Proficiency in MSOffice Suite – such as Excel (formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, pivot tables, etc.), Visio, and PowerPoint skills
· Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools including Power BI and Power Automate
· Familiarity with scripting and automation
Preferred
· Familiarity with various programming languages, such as Python
· Knowledge of project management tools, project methodology, technique and practices is a plus.
· Previous experience working with cross-functional teams
Salary and Benefits
The expected annual salary range for this role is $80,003-$84,803. Please note the salary information is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The range listed is just one component of IMRF's total compensation package for employees.
