Job Description:You will play a critical leadership role in the financial management of Jellyfish, focusing on financial control, operational finance, and compliance. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for driving excellence in financial processes, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, overseeing the integrity of billing operations, and leading accounts payable and receivable functions. You'll serve as a key partner to business leaders, ensuring financial rigour supports sustainable growth.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and enhance financial control processes to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely reporting.
- Oversee the financial control, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring efficient cash flow and working capital management.
- Drive continuous improvement in billing processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure revenue is recognised in line with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 15 or ASC 606).
- Be accountable for the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring robust reconciliations and audit readiness.
- Partner with operational teams to drive automation, scalability, and control across all transactional finance processes.
- Support the CFO in board reporting, external audit processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Work with the Financial Reporting Director to Implement and maintain financial policies, controls, and systems aligned with business needs.
- Lead and mentor finance team members to build capability and drive performance.
- Collaborate with FP&A and commercial finance teams to align operational results with forecasts and budgets.
- Ensure use of the company's assets is in line with its approval policy
- Act as a Financial Business Partner and Advisor to the company's senior management team
Success Metrics
- Accuracy and timeliness of monthly financial closes and reporting.
- DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) and DPO (Days Payable Outstanding) performance.
- Revenue recognition compliance and audit outcomes.
- Billing accuracy rates and time-to-bill cycle improvements.
- Reduction in manual processes and automation efficiency gains.
- Strength of internal controls and audit findings.
- Team development, retention, and satisfaction scores.
- A strong background in financial control, revenue recognition, and transactional finance
- 12+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Deep understanding of revenue accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 15 or ASC 606)
- Proven track record in managing and improving AP/AR and billing processes
- Experience of having worked working in medium to large organizations or fast-scaling environments, ideally in a media agency multi-market finance organisation
- Exceptional process improvement and financial systems implementation experience
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including board and audit committee interaction
- Relevant accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA)
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and analytical capability
