Requirements
We are looking for flexible and dedicated staff to join our team here at the Ottawa YMCA.

- Weekends
- Must have excellent customer service and proficiency in computer systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Be responsible for enforcing facility rules.
Maintain order in lobby area.
Be responsible for making sure members and guests are greeted as they enter the building and that they are scanning in if members or signing in on log sheet if a guest or spectator.
Report unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor or other person of responsibility if your immediate supervisor is not available.
Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures.
Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
Help with other YMCA functions and duties as assigned by supervisor
Know appropriate emergency and safety procedures and proper exits for everyone in the facility.
Exemplify the YMCA core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
Maintain check in station area in a clean and orderly fashion with no clutter on counter.
Responsible for making sure all documents used on a daily basis are filled in, this includes the brochures on the wall.
Make sure new membership packets are made up and always available
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to multi-task.
Answer the phones.
Must be able to operate a computer.
Must be willing to learn or know about the YMCA programming, mission, functions, etc.
Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the building, on the phone, and at the desk. Contribute to member retention.
Sells programs, day passes, memberships, merchandise, etc as necessary.
Identify and actively resolve membership or guests concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
Balances cash drawers daily. Resolves discrepancies prior to leaving shift.
Completes all tasks assigned in a timely and accurate manner.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
At least 18 years of age
Previous experience working with diverse populations
High School or equivalent diploma
CPR/First Aid/AED certifications within 30 days of hire.
Complete Onboarding Training Videos prior to hire and as required going forward.
Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Must have excellent/proper phone etiquette skills.
Must have basic knowledge of computers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to stand/sit for long periods of time
Must be able to respond quickly to emergency situations
