Position Duties
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Managing the local Flood Mitigation Grant Program and overseeing the associated multimillion-dollar Flood Mitigation Grant Program Fund to provide County funding assistance for private property owners dealing with reoccurring flooding.
• Establishing consistent methodology for watershed management and drainage studies to include updates to the existing Watershed Management Plans and the County Flood Resiliency Plan, and managing the development of new Watershed Management Plans for the County.
• Serving as the County Subject Matter Expert for post-construction flood mitigation and assessments.
• Working with diverse groups of stakeholders including Board of Supervisors members, departmental staff, community members, Homeowner Associations, elected officials, state regulators, and other county Department staff to effectively facilitate implementation of flood assessments and mitigation solutions.
• Educating the public and singular homeowners on how to be flood resilient.
• Conducting outreach to residents and communities through both public and one-on-one meetings with private property owners, community residents, and HOA managers.
• Tracking and managing state and federal grants that can be applied to County flood-related issues.
This position is eligible for partial telework in accordance with County and Department policies.
Hiring salary commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Prefer Professional Engineering Registration (PE), Certified Floodplain Manager, and/or Professional Geologist.
Other Qualifications
Subject-to-call 24-hours a day, seven days a week and must be available during County emergencies. This position is considered “essential.”
