Start your career in public service. Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS), Office of Family Independence (OFI), is seeking candidates for the position of Eligibility Services Administrator in the Sr. SNAP unit. This position reports to an OFI Deputy or District Manager located in Brantley County, Nahunta, GA

Position Duties

Pay Grade: J

Manages a team of supervisors of assigned units/teams who determines initial and/or continued eligibility as a result of interviews and documentation for benefits and agency resources. Assists in the development of uniform policy interpretations, securing timely benefits, and evaluating quality and management.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct supervision and support to assigned supervisors by coordinating and engaging the supervisors in the planning of the workload.
  • Oversee initiatives/activities and create long-term strategies to move the workload in an efficient way.  
  • Ensures agency compliance with policies, appropriate documentation, and reporting requirements by reviewing, monitoring, and completing/creating various reports making sure staff meet and maintain accuracy, timeliness, and to identify barriers.
  • Develops and encourages a cooperative team-oriented environment within units(s) and with other agencies and providers.
  • Assess supervisor’s performance and provide ongoing development and training.
  • Interviews, hires, directs, trains, and evaluates employees’ performance; recommends employee disciplinary and discharge actions as appropriate.
  • Leads and administers a comprehensive system of customer support and public assistance.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED AND (5) years of related experience.
OR
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university AND four (4) years of related experience.
OR
  • One (1) year of experience at the lower level Economic Support Cons 3 (SSP052) or position equivalent.

DFCS Specific Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of experience at lower level, position equivalent of Eligibility Specialist Supervisor or Customer Contact Center Supervisor.
  • Gateway Eligibility System trained.
  • Trained and worked in two (2) or more OFI programs.
  • No disciplinary actions within one (1) year.
  • 3.0 or above on last Performance Management Evaluation.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:  Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following education/skills/experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved, accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years DFCS supervisory experience in an environment administering SNAP benefits (Food Stamps) and ABD Medicaid programs.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures in OFI program areas.
  • Ability to provide training and consultation on relevant policies and procedures.
  • Experience with analyzing programmatic data using standard reports and spreadsheet.
