Basic Qualifications
Starting Salary $55,000(negotiable dependent upon experience)
Education/Training: bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required with a concentration in accounting. Studying for the CPA a plus.
Skill(s): Communicates clearly in English; strong reading, writing, grammar, interpersonal relations and communication skills; along with strong organizational and process/project management skills; good understanding of accounting and GAAP; strong knowledge of Balance Sheet and accounts payable; proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office; knowledge of FISERV Prologue Accounting and Accounts Payable Systems; visual and auditory skills; ability to lift items weighing 15 lbs. or less.
Experience: New graduate with up to two (2) years’ related experience in banking preferred.
General Responsibilities
Responsible for performing various duties to support the Bank’s accounting, financial reporting, and control functions; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the accounting function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports.
Essential Duties
- Performs various duties to support the Bank’s accounting, financial reporting, and control functions of which the following are illustrative:
- Maintains the Bank’s accounting systems for accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accrued expenses, including related processing and reporting.
- Reconciliation of Bank’s internal demand deposit accounts and general ledger balance sheet accounts.
- Reconciliation of all correspondent bank accounts.
- Prepare roll forwards of prepaid expenses, fixed assets, investments, stockholder equity and allowance for credit loss.
- Research and clear all discrepancies.
- Prepares vendor checks utilizing Accounts Payable system.
- Prepares journal entries and reconciliations for monthly general ledger close.
- Assists with daily general ledger reconciliations.
- Assists with preparation of documentation for the annual external audit and federal/state regulatory examinations by gathering requested materials.
- Assists with various accounting related and special projects as assigned.
- Assists with completion of quarterly and annual regulatory reporting, including the Call Report, SEC Reporting, Summary of Deposits, GUDPA, and supporting schedules.
- Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
- Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
- Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.
- Responds to inquiries relating to his/her area, or to requests from other Bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
- Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
