 Overview:

We are seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator with experience in installation, configuration, maintenance of SQL database servers (RDS and on-prem/Cloud SQL server) and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of SQL services, AWS RDS, and Redshift. This role requires strong Agile Scrum proficiency, a collaborative team player mindset, and the ability to work independently. With at least 5 years of Database experience, the candidate should excel in delivering innovative solutions within a cloud-native environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL database servers (RDS and on-prem/Cloud SQL server installations).
  • Monitor and tune database performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as index rebuilding, query optimization, and database tuning.
  • Develop processes for optimizing database security, protect sensitive data, and manage database access efficiently.
  • Complete necessary patching and updates on servers and instances.
  • Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
  • Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
  • Refine and automate regular/repeating processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Be available for on-call support as needed.
  • Work with developers, DevOps and engineering team to support application development and implement solutions/enhancements for recurring problems.
  • Design and complete migration of databases to AWS.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related problems/escalations in a timely manner.

Required Skills:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in SQL server database administration, AWS RDS, and Redshift.
  • Strong command of SQL, SQL server tools and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
  • Experience with High Availability (HA), database security, backup and Disaster Recovery (DR).
  • Experience in design, planning and migration of databases to AWS.
  • Experience in PowerShell/Unix Shell scripting & operational automation.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools as well as 3rd party tools.
  • Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling.
  • Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS.
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.
  • Self-motivated, directed and with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as strong logical, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience working in team-oriented, collaborative environment and with teams spread across multiple locations across multiple time zones.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments.
  • Extensive experience with database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL Oracle, MongoDB).
  • Experience with AWS cloud services (RDS, Redshift, S3, Glue) required.

Required Education/Preferred Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred.
  • Experience with MongoDB is preferred.

 

The salary range for this position is approximately $100,000 to $125,000, based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is also eligible for annual performance-based bonuses.
