I. SCOPE OF POSITION
The Quality Assurance Lab Technologist is responsible for lab testing of blown/cast films, use of computer programs for data entry/data analysis, general quality assurance issues, assisting operators to reduce errors/scrap, increase uptime, assist with on time delivery, and exceed customer expectations through the process of continuous improvement.
II. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES
Within the limits of applicable policies, procedures and established plans, he/she has authority to take action and make decisions. The assignment of work or delegation or responsibility does not relinquish responsibility for results. Performance will be measured by the extent to which the responsibilities have been fulfilled.
Functional Responsibilities 100%
• Creates and maintains a new work order folder and edits the excel smart sheet containing test data, startups, notes, etc.
• Performs tests on startups on in-process film, and final products for Converting, Slitting, Roll Stock, and ADSL machines. Checking properties such as bag material size, perforations, seal strength, glue strength, print quality, elongation, etc., by standard practice and strict test criteria per (customer and internal specifications).
• Collects, tests, and records all the required testing data needed to report quality information, Including CoA forms and hold tickets.
• Performs inspections per the Work Order Specifications of finished product.
• Creates Quality Holds as non-conforming products arise and reports and communicates any failed test results or quality deficiencies to the operator, tech, and or and Shift Supervisor immediately.
• Performs testing and reports results of different materials and assists in Quality Complaints given by supervisor and/or Quality team (sample bags, competitors material, etc.) as needed.
• Communicates and works well with inspectors, operators, leads, supervisors, and management.
• May fill in or assist for the Extrusion Lab as needed.
• Abide by all rules and procedures.
• Responsible for following the procedures which make up the Quality System.
• Ensures work area is kept clean according to facility/corporate standards
• Ensures all environmental standards and requirements are met.
• Sets the example of safe operation by following established safety guidelines; Follows the established guidelines; holds self and others accountable.

VII. QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
• Bachelor of Science Degree preferred
• Experience in a QA Lab environment, preferably in blow film plastic environment
Skills
• Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Access
• Good organizational skills
• Good mathematical skills – conversion tables, metric system etc.
• Able to work independently with minimum supervision
