Summary
This an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Manufacturing Program Manager to guide our chemical production efforts from development-scale to production-scale. These chemical plants will reshore American production of 8+ chemicals critical for defense and commercial applications that currently face supply chain challenges. The Manufacturing Program Manager will be responsible for developing and managing project plans, schedules, budgets, risks/opportunities, and deliverables all while working with the chief engineer, engineering team, and construction project manager to translate project objectives into actionable tasks
Essential Functions
- Communicate effectively through written, verbal, and presentation channels to internal team members and external stakeholders. Communicate technical concepts in simple terms to non-technical audiences.
- Develop and manage project plans to support a transition from development-scale to production-scale chemical manufacturing. The timeline for these plans is estimated to span the 12–36-month time range.
- Develop and maintain resource-loaded schedules that translate the big-picture project plan into actionable quarterly and weekly tasks.
- Develop and maintain a budget employing a tailored subset of Earned Value Management strategies (EVM Lite).
- Track project risks and work with the engineering team to develop mitigation strategies.
- Track project opportunities and work with the engineering team to realize improvements.
- Prepare and present monthly and quarterly deliverables to internal and external stakeholders including US government representatives and potential customers.
- Work closely with engineering and operations to develop a high-level understanding of all chemical plant unit operations.
- Ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Competencies, Experience, and Education
Required
- Must have excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Must be able to understand technical topics and be able to distill down and communicate complex topics in simple terms to non-technical audiences.
- 5+ years of experience managing technical, engineering, or manufacturing projects.
- 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and coordinate schedules that balance competing priorities and finite resources.
- Experience developing and analyzing project-related financial reports.
- Experience developing and managing project budgets and schedules in relevant tools like Microsoft Excel, ERP software, and project management software.
- Demonstrated ability to identify barriers to forward progress and mitigate the impact of these barriers to prevent project stagnation.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses, including
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Pass pre-employment drug test and health screening.
- Pass State and Federal background checks.
Desired
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- 10+ years of experience managing technical, engineering, or manufacturing projects.
- Experience transitioning developmental projects to a production manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
- Experience working in the chemical industry.
- Proficient with Unanet ERP system and Smartsheet project management software.
Work Environment
The work will be primarily in office and manufacturing environments. Some time may be spent working near chemicals including acids, bases, and oxidizers.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Comfortable sitting, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
- Exposure to industrial machines, heat, cold, and energetic materials.
- Frequent movement through a manufacturing environment.
- Use of personal protective equipment appropriate to the work location.
Travel
10-20%, particularly to the Minden, Louisiana area.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Working a 9/80 schedule
