Job Summary

Under the direction of the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director, the Senior Advisor at the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE) provides strategic leadership and planning in support of the agency’s operations, activities, and educational services. Serving as a key strategist, the Senior Advisor leads work in areas aligned to their expertise and experience, with a strong focus on advancing the California Statewide System of Support (SSOS). This role works closely with the California Department of Education, the State Board of Education, and county offices of education to foster coherence, build capacity, and strengthen outcomes across the state. With specialized expertise in middle and high school transformation and special education systems, the Senior Advisor supports systemic redesign efforts to promote equity, access, and student success. A central responsibility of this position is leading Direct Technical Assistance to identified LEAs, guiding districts through complex improvement efforts, aligning initiatives, and supporting sustainable change in partnership with local and state agencies. In addition, the Senior Advisor represents CCEE at statewide conferences, convenings, and professional learning events by sharing promising practices, elevating the work of the SSOS, and advancing continuous improvement across California. The Senior Advisor is also responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating activities to support their areas of focus and reports directly to the Deputy Executive Director.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION Master’s degree in Education, Public Policy, or a related area from an accredited college/university is required or equivalent years of experience in the field of education. EXPERIENCE At least five years of developing, leading, and coaching improvement efforts in schools, districts, county offices of education, and other local educational agencies. At least three years of experience as an administrator or executive team member, with preference for experience at the cabinet-level, at a local or state educational agency. CERTIFICATES/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES: • Valid California driver’s license required Conditions of Employment: Employees are required to submit to a Department of Justice background check and provide proof of freedom from tuberculosis.
