SUMMARY
The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO), New Orleans, Louisiana, provides the care, custody,
control, and rehabilitation of inmates. We are committed to providing the highest level of service

The Human Resources (HR) Recruiter position is located in the OPSO Office of Human Resources, and
reports to the Director of Human Resources. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with the
full life-cycle recruiting, screening and recommending placement of staff by using creative
sourcing methods for both internal and external recruitment initiatives. The incumbent will also
develop and post job announcements, develop job descriptions, and provide support for New Employee
Orientation to include assisting with the employee onboarding process. Moreover, the incumbent
will engage in various Job Recruitment Fairs, and Special Events, to include serving as Primary
Resource for attending and participating in all events approved by the Director of Human Resources,
for which participation may include evenings, weekends, and at various locations throughout the
area.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Job Duties & Functions:
• Execute duties in an extremely Confidential manner!!!
• Provides support and execution for recruitment and staffing initiatives aligned to the
Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO).
• Develop and post job announcements.
• Utilize knowledge, skills and experience working with various HRIS recruitment tools (i.e.,
ADP, Indeed, Monster, etc.) in support of posting job announcements, and working with applications
submitted to assist applicants, accordingly.
• Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open
positions to include collaborating with hiring managers to understand the required knowledge,
skills and abilities to fill vacant positions.
• Conducts a qualification review of applicant’s knowledge, skills and abilities aligned to
posted job announcements in support of identifying qualified applicants for advancing
to the interviewing phase with hiring managers.
As assigned, conducts initial interviews with interested applicants.
• Arranges employment interviews, organizes interview panels, develops interview questions and
participates in interviews as a moderator or observer as assigned.
• Prepares job offer letters and verifies applicant eligibility aligned to regulatory
compliance and position needs (i.e., I-9 required actions, education, experience, certifications,
etc.)
• Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring
complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
• Developing detailed job descriptions.
• Explaining the benefits, company policies and parameters of the job to applicants.
• Processing hiring paperwork and maintaining employee records.
• Participates in the for full life-cycle recruiting, screening and recommending placement of
staff.
• Participates in identifying the staffing needs of an organization by coordinating with the
department managers for their hiring requirements and qualifications.
• Ensures compliance and execution of established recruitment processes.
• Source candidates through referrals, online recruiting, agency relationships, LinkedIn and
industry networking functions.
• Engages in various Job Recruitment Fairs, and Special Events. Serves as Primary Resource for
attending and participating in all events approved by the Director of Human Resources, for which
participation may include evenings, weekends, and at various locations throughout the area.
• Prepares and distributes information to inform employees of various programs, special
employer sponsored activities.
• Provides support and assistance to the Director of Human Resources to include establishing,
maintaining and producing various reports and conducting analysis as task.
• Provides support for New Employee Orientation to include assisting with the employee
onboarding process.
• Performs other related Human Resources duties and task as assigned.
Requirements, Skills and Ability to:
• Ability to execute duties in an extremely Confidential manner!!!
• Knowledge, skills and experience with HR Recruiting, and the various recruiting methods.
• Knowledge, skills and experience working with various HRIS recruitment tools (i.e., ADP,
Indeed, Monster, etc.).
• High School graduate or GED.
• Two to four years of experience in Human Resources or related field.
• Knowledge of HR guidelines and common practices.
• Possesses cultural insight and has the ability to work within multiple cultures.
• Ability to qualify a candidate and understand what each candidate brings to the table, at
candidate with the right opportunity.
