The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Assistant Director for the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs.
High Deductible Health Plan – bi-weekly premiums:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, public administration, political science, or closely related field.
Requires six (6) years experience in state or federal governmental affairs with representation of a local government entity preferred or closely related experience, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required
None.
Preferences
Minimum one (1) year experience using legislative tracking software such as LobbyTools or POLITICO Pro
Position Duties
Develop and implement short, medium, and long run advocacy strategies and tactics to support current and projected County priorities and policies; identify the specific strengths of the County's retained federal and state advocacy consulting firms to the current and projected County priorities and policies.
Task each specific County retained federal and state advocacy consulting firm to support the short, medium, and long run federal advocacy strategies that have been developed; identify key public and private sector stakeholders that can positively advocate for current and projected County priorities and policies.
Identify federal and state legislative and regulatory mechanisms that impact current and projected County priorities and policies; identify County assets that possess subject matter expertise on County priorities and policies; monitor daily federal and state political and policy activity as it directly relates to County priorities and policies.
Communicate the occurrences and activities in the federal and state political landscape with the County's elected and appointed leadership; communicate the status of the County's current priorities and policies with the County's elected and appointed leadership; work with County Administration and elected leadership to clarify the County's current and projected federal and state advocacy policies and priorities.
Monitor, analyze, and report on developing federal and state legislative issues that require immediate attention; directly communicate with the Director and other County agencies and offices to gather information and report on state level activity.
Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders that support issues in the program and facilitate their engagement in the political process.
Interpret and communicate policy regulations as it pertains to the County's advisory boards.
Seek grant opportunities for County-based initiatives and review federal, state, and local regulations impacting grant programs.
Perform related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
