This position is responsible for presenting a positive image of the Design Studio by providing an enjoyable options buying experience through customer rapport.  Design Associate will encourage product and design knowledge while keeping in the mind the department’s customer service and financial goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a thorough sales knowledge for all products and options specific to the floor plans offered in their community.

  • Meet with customers to conduct design appointments, providing detailed information about all products and options. Assisting the customer with selections for their home and provide professional design expertise to personalize their home to fit their lifestyle.

  • Clearly communicates product information, including warranties and maintenance to the customer. 

  • Accurately prepare all paperwork to be distributed to customer, construction, warranty and trades in a timely manner. Includes use of computer and drawing accurate mini-plans to clarify selected options.

  • Responds to internal and external customer questions and concerns and brings resolution in a timely manner.

  • Maintain customer survey ratings at goal level or better, by consistently delivering the Trilogy Experience to each customer.

  • Attend all sales/community meetings and product knowledge seminars scheduled during business hours.

  • Assist with product review, selection and pricing of flooring and countertop materials.

  • Promote presentation and upkeep of showroom

  • Meets with customer after move in to present maintenance materials and samples. Reviews basic maintenance procedures for flooring and countertop materials.

  • Assist construction & warranty with option issues during construction and after closing in a timely and courteous manner to successfully resolve challenges. This includes, calculating replacement values, assisting with reselections where needed, and working with supplier reps to resolve warranty issues.

  • Assists the sales team by responding to questions about options and products

  • Other duties/projects as assigned.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Design Studio experience/knowledge preferred.

  • Knowledge of the home building industry.

  • College or Design School degree or classes.

  • Knowledge of all interior materials and installations.

  • Valid Arizona unrestricted driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of construction process and ability to read blueprints required

  • Mainframe and Personal Computer which would include Microsoft Office, Word for Windows, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft E-Mail/Outlook, AS 400.

Professional Performance Standards

  • Responsible and accountable for executing the specific responsibilities listed above in complete conformance with goals, expectations and schedule commitments of the Division.

  • Participate in educational classes offered by Shea Homes each year.

  • Continue professional development in the builder design center business or homebuilder industry in order to obtain a higher level of knowledge.

  • Participate in at least two job exchanges annually within Shea Homes.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk and hear.  The associate frequently is required to walk and sit, and occasionally is required to stand.  The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to approximately 25 pounds.
